Basebuilding

The core of the AWARE-LA White Anti-racist Organizing model is building a community, specifically a Radical White community, that can sustain and support white people doing anti-racist work, and grow and deepen their anti-racist skills. We call this our “base,” and the organizing process our “basebuilding model.”  The key to our basebuilding model is to direct our white anti-racist organizing towards involving white people in the Saturday Dialogue, which is the heart of AWARE-LA’s community. Through the Saturday Dialogue we are able to build an active base which we can organize to become involved in and lead the work we are doing. The organizing work builds the base and the base increases AWARE-LA’s capacity to do organizing work.
