Details: Looking At Male Privilege (LAMP) is an affinity space offered by White People 4 Black Lives so that male-presenting people can explore both the complexities of our socialization into white male culture and the ways it is impacting our work and relationships. This 90-minute online meeting will specifically invite participants to explore how their male gender role socialization is impacting the ways they are showing up (or not showing up) in the fight for Black Lives. Join us as we work to build a supportive community committed to dialogue, reflection, education and action to dismantle patriarchy and white supremacy in the struggle for collective liberation.

JUSTICELA VIRTUAL ACTIONS

Details: Join us in action to lift up and push demands from JusticeLA and coalition partners calling for defunding law enforcement, decarceration, and investment in community-based Alternatives to Incarceration. Everything you need happens right there - context, training, collective action + recruitment, debrief, and next steps.
You can also sign up to join our JusticeLA Daily Action List here. Three times a week you’ll receive, via text, a 2-5 minute action to uplift and push these demands and campaigns often in the form of an email, a phone call, and/or social media amplification.

AWARE-LA Saturday Dialogues

Details: Saturday Dialogue is a gathering for white anti-racists who want to discuss issues of identity, community, privilege and racism in our lives with the intention to strengthen our practice as anti-racists in alliances, relationships, and interactions with people of color. LOS ANGELES POLICE COMMISSION MEETING

Details: Join the WP4BL Action Team for this introduction to a direct action webinar; Protest 101: How to show up as a white anti-racist ally. This 90 minute webinar is for white people who are interested in learning more about best practices for street-based protest that include: showing up with a purpose, maintaining safety, protest roles, your rights, and the best ways we have learned about how to show up in solidarity with Black Lives Matter Los Angeles. AWARE-LA CLASS COMMITTEE MEETING

Details: Curious about class? Join the AWARE-LA Class Committee to explore your personal relationship with class, learn how to center class in anti-racism work, and build a deeper political analysis around how harmful economic systems and white supremacy culture work together to keep us from achieving collective liberation. Open to anyone who has previously attended a Saturday Dialogue and/or WP4BL Orientation. Class Committee meetings take place on the first Monday of each month. We will gather as a cross-class group for this meeting, and we also gather in class affinity spaces as the poor & working class caucus, and the middle & owning class caucus.

Details: We strongly encourage you to attend a Saturday Dialogue Orientation before you attend a Saturday Dialogue. Please join us! In this orientation, we’ll talk about the purpose of Saturday Dialogues and why AWARE-LA organizes as a white anti-racist community. We’ll go over what a typical Saturday Dialogue agenda looks like, and talk about the different type of content that we do throughout the year. We’ll also tell you about the organizational structure of AWARE-LA, and then close out our time together with an opportunity for newcomers to ask questions of our facilitation team.

Our orientation is a comprehensive introduction to our collective, who we are, and what we do. Please join us! As a reminder, WP4BL is based in Los Angeles, and our work is focused locally. If you are outside of the greater Los Angeles area, we encourage you to find a local chapter of the national organization of Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ). We are the Los Angeles SURJ affiliate.
